Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are ready to become college ready readers and writers! Our school serves students facing many challenges, such as poverty and trauma. Despite these challenges, we have some of the best attendance rates in the district - our students really want to learn!

These ELA students are going to be the leaders of our communities one day, despite all obstacles that stand in their way.

It is our responsibility to make sure they are prepared. Our students are resilient, motivated, quite silly, and excited for the upcoming school year.

My Project

Historically, students living in poverty struggle desperately with two major things: organization and retention of information. Through the use of a classroom organization system that uses binders and notebooks to help record vital information and organize it in one place, these back to school supplies will ensure that students have what it takes to keep track of their learning.

These supplies will also ensure that no student comes to class unprepared due to poverty.

With pencils, markers, paper, and highlighters at the ready, students will have all the tools they need to participate in all the learning opportunities I can offer them.
