This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Student choice is important, and it's my job as a librarian to make sure that our collection reflects our students' interests. We've only been back for a week, but my book request box is already full! The kids have been looking up books on the library computer and letting me know what they want. Newcomer students in particular have been asking for more books in Spanish. I'm eager to get those books in their hands.
Students know what they want to read.
I aim to get them the books they've requested as quickly as possible so they'll see that the library is responsive to their needs. Libraries are the heart of a school, the heart of a community, and a place where everyone belongs. This project shows our students that their voice and choice matter!
