This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are seventh graders in a Title I school. They are very enthusiastic about learning about history, citizenship and world events and I try to make learning fun as I prepare them for the End of Course Civics State exam at the end of the year. Unfortunately, most of them come from low-income families and do not have the materials that are needed for school. My students deserve to have the resources to help them learn and feel confident to participate in classroom activities. They each have the potential to do great things.
The notebooks will be used for note-taking using the "flipped classroom" strategy, where the students will review and take notes on a topic at home, then participate in creative hands-on activities at school to ensure understanding of the content.
The markers and paper will be used in class to create visuals such as posters, charts and foldables which will enhance the students learning.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
