Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in Houston, Texas. I have a classroom of 23 wonderful students of varying interests and abilities. The majority of my students are English Language Learners, considered at-risk, and economically disadvantaged. However, they are passionate about learning.
Each day my students come in asking, "What will we be learning today?"
For this, I am truly lucky to have such an enthusiastic group of students that come in ready to learn and try something new. I could not have asked for a sweeter bunch.
My Project
These essential materials and supplies will ensure that my students are prepared with everything they need in order to be successful this school year. These are basic necessities such as crayons, makers, erasers, and PPE that will be used daily.
With the impact of the pandemic still lingering, I imagine back-to-school shopping can be a difficult time for our low-income families.
I just want to help lighten the load as much as possible.
I would like to be able to have enough materials to provide my students with anything they may be missing.
