My Students

Our classroom is home to a wonderful, diverse group of students with a variety of strengths. The majority of our students are children with special needs and about half of our students are english language learners. Our students are incredibly resilient, capable, and brave. I truly believe that we have as much to learn from children as they do from us, and K-129 proves that every year. From one of our students on the spectrum carefully and considerately putting a rolly-polly pug on my leg at recess to desensitize me to my fear of bugs -- to a student pulling me to the side after morning meeting and advising me that I was a little too hard on another student who had trouble on the rug that morning -- my students are constantly surprising and inspiring me with their empathy, consideration, and community.

Here in Elmhurst, Queens our Kindergarteners are used to not having much, but they approach every challenge with courage and react to everything they are given with immense gratitude.

They never let their obstacles define them, and show great passion and desire to learn every day. Thank you in advance for your help. We are so grateful.

My Project

Here in Elmhurst, Queens are students and their families have been greatly affected by the crisis and are economically depleted. This year we will not be asking for supplies from families and would appreciate your help in getting the basics for our students. We are used to having communal supplies in Kindergarten but this year we need individual materials for all students. Pens and crayons are an integral part of the Kindergarten classroom and allow the children to write, learn from their mistakes, and express themselves artistically.

Our class is grateful for your consideration!
