Every year, I struggle to keep some basic supplies on hand for my students. iPad and Chromebook chargers disappear over the months, headphones break, and we go through reams of Post-it notes, printer paper, tissues, paper towels, and disinfecting wipes just to try to keep the germs away all year long. Also, since this is my 9th year of teaching all adolescent boys, I find it necessary to help them learn about hygiene and supply them with products to use after recess and gym class, for their sake and the sake of all that share our classroom.
Your help means I don’t have to go too deeply into my own family’s budget this year to make sure my students have what they need to learn.
Everyone seems to be having to do more with less every year, but I’m hoping this campaign will mean that some small contributions from generous friends and colleagues will be met with matching funds from bloated corporate coffers looking for tax write-offs.
