Help me give my students a well-stocked counseling office that promotes creativity, self-expression, healing, and fun.

My Students
Our K-8 school is a Title I, high poverty school in Southwest Philadelphia, where 100% of students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite a large percentage of students who struggle with food or housing insecurity, family stressors, and exposure to violence and trauma, our students come to school curious, active, playful, and ready to engage. I want our school to be a safe, stable place for them where they can set aside worries and hardships and enjoy the confidence and pride that comes with learning and growth. Every day scholars and staff put courage, creativity, perseverance, and resilience to work to accomplish big things on a shoestring.
Thank you for helping our students unleash their inner brilliance.
My Project
This project represents some of the little things that I like to provide for my students that usually come out of my own pocket.
These resources will help me offer the best counseling services I can to my students.
The materials include:
-Glitter and tacky glue to make sensory bottles to help students visualize their brain and nervous systems calming down (also a handheld vacuum for the inevitable moment when the glitter spills everywhere!).
-Scissors and glue sticks for projects. In addition to using them for counseling activities, many students use my office as a resource to complete poster board projects for which they may not have the materials at home.
-Blank journals which I use as an intervention for students who need an outlet to express their inner thoughts and feelings
-Color paper and color printer ink for flyers and projects - these items don't usually make it into the budget for individual classrooms but they add pizazz and fun
-Other items that are helpful around the office including child-sized headphones so students can complete interactive work on the computer; spiral bound chart paper where my small groups keep their group agreements; an air pump for re-inflating playground balls (my old one broke last year); whiteboard spray; clipboards and a phone message book to help keep me organized.
