This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are beautiful, eager 1st graders in a low-income area in East New York, Brooklyn. The school receives 100% free breakfast and lunch.
These students need to be given experiences that make them excited to come to school to work and learn!
Loving to come to school means succeeding in the future!
They are only in first grade, so it is critical that they develop a love of school and learning at this early and integral time in their education.
My Project
Many of my students can not afford school supplies. How great would it be to provide them with the necessary supplies to begin a successful school year?
Markers, folders, glue sticks, and white board erasers will give my students successful starts.
Chart paper will enable us to create colorful, engaging anchor charts to display in the classroom for students to refer to.
Dry erase markers can be used in so many ways. During fundations, they can practice forming letters. During literacy, they can jot down important information from the book, or practice writing sight words. During math, they can attempt showing work for a word problem. It provides them an engaging way of showing work rather than the paper and pencil method.
