Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a high poverty school in the midst of apartments and single-family homes. Over fifty percent of the students are from low-income homes and most receive free or reduced-price lunch.
More than half of the students come from second language homes and others have special educational needs.
Therefore, many of my students have limited resources and may not have had the opportunity to attend preschool. My classroom may be the first educational experience and opportunity for learning.
A key to successful class is reducing behavior problems and increase positive classroom climate. I would like to reward my students with incentives and awards for making good choices.
My Project
I would like the students to be successful in school by empowering them with skills and scholarly behavior that will become the foundation for their education.
My behavior chart has to do with "Pawsitive Behaviors".
With stuffed bears, toys, candies and paw print stickers I will promote treating others the way we want to be treated. Students love to be rewarded for their best behaviors and teachers are delighted to recognize them. Each student will be working toward respecting school properties, being safe in the yard, being responsible for cleaning up, taking turns with games, lining up quietly, returning homework on time throughout the year. With awards, parents will be getting a notice of their child's successful day in school.
