Help me give my students the back to school basics they will need. Dry-erase boards, pencil boxes, crayons, pencils, journals, and scissors are needed to replace the supplies that I delivered to my students' home.

My Students

This year has brought changes to our classroom that we could have never anticipated. My students expected that we would be together, learning and laughing, until the end of the year. They went home that Friday afternoon, with a couple of workbooks and ready to do some "homework" for a week or two. My 24 students are honest and trusting, believing that I, as their teacher, will do everything I can to give them every possible opportunity to maximize their potential for present and future success. Their school year changed overnight, but the learning continues.

More than half of my students are living in low-income households, and the same percentage are first-generation U.S.

citizens. They have watched how hard their parents work to provide them with a safe, comfortable home in a country that values freedom and imagination. As they now work from home, these same families now provide an integral part of their child's 1st-grade education.

My Project

When the students went home that Friday, I sent with them very little - not knowing what to expect. As time went on, I realized that they needed their supplies in order to complete the work we were now assigning to them at home. So I packed up their pencil boxes, clipboards, crayons and journals and delivered them to their homes.

The classroom is now without the basics because this year's students needed them more at home.

This project will replace the items that are typically used for two to three years. It was much more important for the kids to have the tools they need to continue to learn.
