This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a bunch of very enthusiastic learners. They come to school every day ready to learn. My kindergarten students are a very diverse group with the majority of them learning English as their second language.

Our school is an inner city school where 100% of our students are entitled to free breakfast and lunch.

Many of their parents work two jobs and can only afford basic necessities. We also have a program where we send home food on the weekends for our neediest families.

My Project

I have been doing my best in keeping my students away from their tables during instruction because it is so far away from my projector. We have been doing our mini lessons and independent work on our carpet, using clipboards. However, I just barely have enough clipboards for the entire class. I am asking for more clipboards because I would like to assign a clipboard to each of my students (I have two classes of kindergartners) and have them be responsible for it. I am tired of hearing them fight over them as they want a particular one.

I am also requesting cardstock so that I can create smaller versions of our anchor charts and have them more readily accessible for my students.

They have their own math journals and it would be easier to go to their journal to check an anchor chart instead of walking all over the room looking for the one that will help them and possibly interrupt other students who are working. The cardstock will hold up a lot longer than just the regular copy paper.
