My Students

An office without paper, pens, and staples . . . It would be unheard of. These basics are essential to everyday operations. Yet, classrooms, like ours, often go without the most basic of supplies.

I teach in an urban school in an impoverished neighborhood.

All of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and many have tough economic situations at home that prohibit them from bringing necessary supplies to school. My students are deeply interested in fully engaging in classroom activities, but lacking basic supplies like crayons and glue causes our day-to-day routines in the classroom to be a struggle.

My Project

Your donation will provide my students with key supplies: paper, crayons, glue sticks, dry erase markers, and pencils. Due to school budget cuts, our paper supplies have been drastically decreased. My students cherish time to write, draw, and color, as many do not have art supplies at home. I'm hoping to provide each of my students with a box of 24 crayons and pencils so they may have the materials necessary to bring their illustrations and stories to life in full color. Part of our supply list asks students to bring in dry erase markers, which can be costly for families with little extra money. With this supply of dry erase markers, all students will have access to these tools for our formative assessments. Finally, my students use glue sticks often, for gluing word sorts, completing craft activities, and for adhering materials into interactive notebooks. I would love to provide my students with the glue sticks they will need for the rest of the year.

By donating to this project, you will enable all of my students, even those in the most dire financial situations at home, to have equal access to very basic school supplies.

Thank you so much for your support!
