The students in my kindergarten class are as inquisitive as they are unique. Coming from a multitude of diverse backgrounds and individualized needs, my students are excited explorers and avid learners.
In kindergarten, we know that everyone has a different set of strengths, experiences, and needs that they bring to the table, both academically and personally.
We strive together to make growing, learning, and developing a tremendous experience for ourselves and for our peers. In order to ensure that each student thrives, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, problem solving techniques, and diverse materials.
My Project
In March, my district is planning to have kindergarten learning in person. For some of my students, this will be their first experience in a school setting and for others, it will be the first time in many, many months.
I want to give my students comfortable, flexible seating options that allow them to work in whatever way is best for their bodies.
Instead of sitting in rigid desks all day, our class will block out places on the floor with flexible seating options. These soft floor cushions will allow students to lay, sit, kneel in comfort as they learn in person for the very first time this year.
The colorful fabric can be disinfected easily and allow the wiggly little learners in my class to choose how they learn best in this moment while still socially distancing as necessary for the student's around them.
