Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of our daily routines is to do high lows. This exercise helps students clear any negative thoughts and it helps them be more engaged in class.

My students are bright, active young men who face extraordinary situations at home and on the street.

Many of the young men at my school were or are involved in gangs, so it is very difficult to engage them in after school activities; however, they love participating in sports. One of our varsity players is currently homeless and the team is one of the most important things in his life. Being involved with the team has taught him different ways to work with others. The team has not only helped him improve his behavior, but also his academics have been on the rise. Each player on the team has a different story; baseball brings them together and is one thing that keeps them going.

My Project

These items, including mitts, balls, bags, and bats, will benefit my students and my classroom in many different ways. For instance, students may take turns on keeping the materials clean; this duty will show them how to be responsible. The baseball bats will help my students build strong eye coordination skills.

This project will make a difference not only in my classroom, but also in the community.

My students will learn to work together as one and to be more responsible of their duties. Teaching and showing our children that there are people out in the world who believe in them will give them a better sense and reason to strive for success.
