My students need Hoki Stools for special students especially who have a difficult time sitting up on the hard student chairs that do not allow movement and hinder learning.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Asher's classroom raised $500

My Students
My students are hungry to learn. My goal is to give them my best and keep the desire to learn alive in them. As such I strive to help them overcome obstacles like learning disabilities by empowering them.
"This then is the first duty of an educator: to stir up life but leave it free to develop" MM
My students are labeled as, "disadvantaged" but I see them as ones with most cultural knowledge.
They bring with them a rich culture, strong family ties, a sense of community and the desire to succeed despite struggles both physical and emotional. My students have sacrificed immediate personal needs in order to gain a more comfortable future not only for themselves but for their families. My students have the ability to balance and live withing 2 cultures accepting both, respecting both, and maximizing the richness of both. They are eager to learn the language, so they can acquire knowledge coded in the books and iPads that they hold in wonderment. They come speaking little to no English at the beginning of the year and in 184 days they unravel the alphabet code and begin reading books! They are empowered, they can share their knowledge with their friends and family, empowering them and the community.
They are immigrants. So am I. Our desire to succeed is ferociously infectious.
My Project
We all agree that the classroom chairs that we sat on were not the most comfortable ones growing up. Chairs are hard and restrictive. For effective learning to happen the physical space, social emotional needs and right materials are necessary. The 'Hoki stools' that I am requesting will aid those of my students who find it challenging to sit in the hard restrictive chairs of the classroom. The Hoki stool will allow those of my students who cannot sit still move in their own space, not distract others and create a positive learning space.
More importantly, if these students are comfortable (not restricted), they will be ready to learn, in turn they will be a positive participating member for the classroom community creating a healthy learning environment.
Your donation, the Hoki Stools will considerable improve my classroom as it will aid those of my students who need movement get the movement and achieve the overall goal of my classroom - to learn!
Distractions, interruptions and implicit name calling will be buried and I will be able to teach and learn in a positive classroom environment. The Hoki Stools will allow my community of learners be just that.
Thank You! for giving the gift of adaptive learning to my students.
