This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students at TH are some of the sweetest kids around. I was lucky enough to have a class set of calculators funded at the beginning of the year, and let me tell you, it has made a huge difference in my students’ belief in their algebra skills. Of course there is always more that are needed! Between growing class sizes and a few that have been misplaced. I have found myself in need of more. This way some students can borrow a calculator for homework if needed as well!

COVID-19 has set students back mathematically, arithmetic skills are lower and students are struggling to be successful.

This tool will help students be more successful because the arithmetic skills aren't weighing them down. When students aren't bogged down by skills that don't always apply to what is being taught, the self confidence boost they receive will help them get through the more challenging algebra concepts.
