Help me give my students access to visuals throughout their school day.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gregory's classroom raised $828

My Students
My students have autism and they have significant needs. They benefit from visual input and require adult prompts to complete everyday tasks. They positively respond to music and a set routine. They frequently become frustrated by their deficits in verbal and simple communication skills. Their willingness to learn is apparent when I can decipher each individual's unique way of expressing his or her needs. It's extremely rewarding when at last I am able to break through and reach my unique and fascinating students.
My Project
The visuals made from this ink will support my students with their communication needs, daily individual school schedule/ routines, and will provide academic supports throughout their school day. Each student will have access to a communication book that includes images of needs and wants. Their daily schedule will include an image of each part of their day (i.e. morning meeting, reading group, math, etc.). The academic visual supports include pictures with written texts for clarity.
Visual supports spark the interests of learners and help teachers to explain concepts easily.
Visual aids are instructional strategies that I use in my classroom to strengthen student learning. The main characteristics of autism include social and communication deficits and limited interests or repetitive behaviors. Visual supports help in all of these areas.
