it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very eager to learn! They love school, and love working together. We have a great classroom community where everyone feels comfortable enough to share, and to take the risks that lead to learning new things. I am so excited to see the amazing things that they will accomplish this year!
My Project
These resources will make a difference in my students' learning, as they will allow for individualized instruction. Headphones are essential for some of the online programs that we use to reinforce skills taught throughout the school day. We use Imagine Learning for Phonics/Reading practice, and Dreambox Math for Math practice.
These programs meet students where they are at, and provide them with the targeted instruction needed to assist them in learning to read.
It would be incredibly difficult for students to receive this individual instruction in a room full of others receiving the same, without headphones to help block out outside sounds. Imagine Learning requires student responses (reading a passage, singing a song, identifying a letter sound, etc.) so, it would be hard for students to hear their own program, if they were able to hear those of their classmates as well.
Additionally, many of my students have been impacted by trauma, and would benefit from the option of a quiet break from time to time. The noise canceling headphones will help with this, along with students who are particularly fearful of fire alarms and other loud noises.
The stickers are a way to help keep my students invested in, and interested in learning. I award table and class points when students are participating and following our classroom and school rules. When a table (or the class as a whole) fills their 10 frame point chart, they get to pick a sticker out to decorate their pencil box or folder. This is very motivating for them, and has been a great classroom management tool.
