This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in Huntington Park, California. Many of our students are also English language learners and non-verbal.
My classroom supports students with moderate to severe autism, and I currently have eight students.
The individual needs of my students vary greatly, so it is important to have materials and activities that engage all of them. They learn best through the use of pictures, manipulatives, and kinesthetic activities. My students enjoy hands-on materials and are eager to explore new objects.
My Project
My students love learning through the use of technology. Having Osmos in our classroom will allow students to blend their love of iPads with literacy and mathematical skills. The Osmos app has been a big hit in our school, but due to limited resources, our use of this amazing app is rare. Having Osmos in our class will allow me to use the app and tools during small group instruction on a regular basis. This will provide my students with the opportunity to practice coding, literacy, mathematics, and various skills on a regular basis and in a hands-on and wonderfully engaging way.
