Awesome Organization: Create a Learning Environment

Help me give my students chair pockets to organize often used supplies, clipboards, and a bookshelf to highlight books that go with the themes we are studying!

My Project

Our kindergarten class will be using whiteboards and letter boards frequently. We also use clipboards all of the time to do activities away from our tables to get students up and moving. Students love using these supplies to enhance their learning. I have found that doing hands on activities, with exciting supplies, really drives the interest in participating. They can also help cement that learning in place better with more memorable learning activities. However, taking time to pass out and collect these supplies each time we want to use them takes away from the amount of time that can be better spent actually doing the learning activities. Having the chair pockets on each of my students chairs will really make the supplies more accessible, thus allowing me to maximize instruction time.

Access to classroom materials is so important in helping students feel like they can take control of their own learning.

Throughout the year, we will study various specific subjects as part of our curriculum, and I would love to have the bookshelf to showcase books on these subjects. Students love to see the books that go along with what they are learning, and making them accessible will only enhance their learning.

A tall teachers desk is one more thing that will help me to be an effective teacher. I often teach using slides, or show examples on a document camera and would love the desk to place these materials on. This way I am able to have a good view of my students while I am instructing them.

I know that having good organization and easy access to classroom supplies allows students to have a good environment in which to learn!
