My Students
I teach almost 400 kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade students in Maize, Kansas. I am trying to find creative ways to teach students about music with many restrictions due to a worldwide pandemic.
Our students are currently not allowed to sing, share supplies, or play recorders. We are currently meeting in person four days a week and virtually on Wednessday. Please help me get the supplies I need to continue to share with my kids a love music while being sure they are safe and stay healthy.
My Project
I love teaching music lessons that are centered around books. I read or sing a book and then turn it into music lessons and activities. Kids love learning new and old music. This project will help me get the materials I need to teach a love of music and a love of literacy.
Students will be leaving music class singing songs like The Bear Went Over The Mountain and Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons, and Dem Bones as well as participate in making body percussion, playing games, dancing, and playing instruments with the new songs we will learn. I am so excited to teach this new music to my students and share the love and joy I have for music and literacy.
