This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love reading books that have won awards. They get excited whenever they spot an award sticker on a cover, and some of my most successful library lessons are those that spotlight award winners in our library.

Each year, students get especially excited when we talk about books that have been nominated for Arizona's Grand Canyon Reader awards, since they get to vote on which book wins.

After our Grand Canyon Reader lesson, it is impossible for me to keep the nominees on our shelves.

Each book on this list has been nominated for a 2024 Grand Canyon Reader award, and supporting this project will help get nominees into my students' hands more quickly, so they can read the required number of books and vote for their favorite. Thank you for helping me keep my students excited about reading!
