As a high school language arts teacher in a small, K-12 school for the deaf and hard of hearing, I teach the same students from when they are freshmen until they graduate! This is an amazing opportunity to get to know them, continually challenge them, and ... provide them with enough "new" books to keep them reading!
So, I take it as a personal challenge to ensure I keep my classroom book collection varied, up-to-date, and stocked with "fresh" books for the students who have already explored all the books that I have!
These diverse books are highly recommended by the Young Adult Library Services Association; Delaware Blue Hen Book Award winners; and/or top the lists for teen/young adult "must-read" lists.
