This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my first year teaching kindergarten. I started in the middle of the year teaching with no supplies. I work with two rather diverse classes, morning and afternoon Kindergarten. I have a total of 50 kids combined in both classes. We are a title one school, which means most of my students are low income families. This is their first experience with education as many do not have the opportunity to go to preschool as they cannot afford it. Many of them are classified as ELL and require additional support.

My Project

Sensory bins provide an opportunity for enriched tactile and visual input. This will provide exploration in an engaging way to target academic concepts. The manipulatives will give my students a more hands-on approach to improve skills in both reading and math. The donations to this project will help to improve my students understanding and deepen their skillsets. This will also empower them to navigate the learning environment in a fun way and help them be engaged in their own learning. They will gain confidence in their abilities to find solutions to problems.
