My Students

My students are a sweet group of first graders who come from many different countries including Africa, Palestine, Iraq, Brazil, Vietnam, China, Japan, the Congo, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Cote D'A'Ivoire, Lebanon, Spain, Peru, and the Dominican Republic.
They are an excited and eager bunch! A portion of my students qualify for refugee status and coming to America has been exciting and overwhelming as they adapt and learn the language and customs. Many are first-generation English speakers.
My Project
My students need Osmo Awbie, another Osmo Pizza Co. Game and two Osmo bases for Kindle Fires. Through the help of Donorschoose.org and generous donations, my students have had access to Osmo and their wonderful games such as Pizza Company, Words, Numbers, Coding Jam, Tangrams and Geography. By including new bases, another Osmo Pizza Co. Game, and an additional coding game, my students will have more access to practice essential skills like counting money, making words/picture identification for my ESL students, math problems and critical thinking. Osmo has sparked an interest, not only in problem solving and critical thinking, but also in cooperative learning skills and teamwork. Osmo has helped increase the learning interest in my students by providing them with necessary life skills to help them be successful.
