My Students

My 5th graders are a bright and inquisitive group. They have a love for learning and a determination that is truly inspiring. It is always exciting to see the wheels turning and concepts sticking. My scholars love sharing what they learned with others.

My students are a talented and funny bunch who make each day a joy.

In addition to learning, they have a wide variety of interests. I have many talented artists, dancers, and athletes. My 5th graders have really taught me the importance of nurturing and teaching the whole child.

My Project

I want my students to become avid readers and have the same love of books that I had at their age. Many of the books I have available are not of high interest. I believe that providing interesting books for my scholars will foster a lifelong love of reading.

It is powerful when students see themselves as book characters.

I want more culturally relevant books for my students so they can read about people (real and made up) who look like them. This combination of high interest and culturally relevant reading materials will get my 5th graders excited about reading.
