My Project
At our 6-8 Oregon middle school, we are piloting a program where intermediate and advanced emergent bilinguals will receive language learning in the AVID classroom! This means no more pullout classes, having to leave their peers, or missing out on elective opportunities!
We will learn language through explicit teaching and learning of skills kids need to level the playing field.
Students will benefit from learning AVID strategies in a bilingual rich environment, where they can discover and apply practices of highly successful students.
Organizational techniques( including the AVID binder), critical reading, writing with purpose, and peer collaboration are all part of closing gaps for all students.
