Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a diverse community were many languages are spoken and students are eager to learn and participate. Our school serves about 700 students and it is 70% free and reduced priced lunch. Our families work closely with us to ensure that their children are successful. Have the right materials to develop their literacy and joy for learning is crucial as 5th graders getting ready for middle school.
The books they read will help them develop content knowledge but also push their thinking for deep discussions and language development.
My 5th graders are about to begin a year in which they will learn to take charge of their lives. They will embark in a journey as a community to make sense of the world by engaging in critical reading to help them interpret the world. Having thought provoking texts are a foundational component of our classroom.
We engage in lively classroom discussions and teach each other via purposeful speaking and listening. I want these books to bring our engagement and learning to the next level!
My Project
These books will enhance my library by providing non-fiction books that are fascinating and engaging. These topics invite the curiosity of our readers and engulf them in true stories about the world we live in.
Learning new facts about the animals, plants, technology, weather, climate change, history of the world we live in become more compelling with fascinating books.
These set of books makes a library that excites me and will keep my readers engaged, excited, and having fun reading about a variety of topics that will encourage them to be enthralled in reading and learning more about the world and themselves as dedicated readers excited about non-fiction text!
