This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been teaching at this school since October 2016. I teach in a pre-kindergarten to 8th-grade school with around 850 students; I see all of them. These students come from various cultural backgrounds. Forty-three percent of the school is ELL (English Language Learners.) There are very large-sized classes and varied levels of English speaking students.

Since I am in a poverty-stricken neighborhood, resources are very limited.

These students have very limited instruments in our music classroom.

Being a young, new teacher, this is very challenging to support me and my classroom. The reason I am asking for this is that my students deserve a classroom that right now I can not give them. I want to help my students in every way and I hope you can help me, help them.

My Project

My students have been taking such good care of our piano lab over our last five years. However, when over 900 students use the same equipment every day all year long, materials start to break no matter how well you care for them.

These new cables will repair and replace old sound equipment connecting the piano to their headsets.

When these cables get old, static comes through or they can not hear themselves at all. Fixing these cables will give the students back full control of their instrument and not have to worry about technical difficulties.
