Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am proud to teach a program called SCORES for students with Autism in a high-needs elementary school. Due to the tremendous success of this program and the commitment and generosity of donors like you, my students have been removed from self-contained special education classes and are excelling in the "mainstream" environment. We're ready to take our program to the next level, and we hope you'll join us! Every year, I visit all of my students' general-education classrooms to educate their peers about accepting differences. Now that my students are moving out of the primary grades (K-2) and into the intermediate levels (3-5), it's time to help their friends gain a deeper understanding. "The Autism Acceptance Book" is an engaging, informative, kid-focused resource for educating children about Autism. Our Autism Awareness program will be driven by this fantastic resource. The book is interactive and will give students the opportunity to not only learn about Autism, but to communicate their thoughts about and ideas for building relationships with their friends with Autism. With your help, each student will have his or her OWN copy of the book to facilitate their meaningful participation in our study groups. Your contribution to this program will help build a community of educated leaders who exemplify diversity acceptance. You will also help provide a resource to children who rarely have the opportunity to own something of this level of quality. Thank you for your consideration!
