This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you finger painted? Or held a paint brush in your hand? It was fun and exciting, and you were able to create your own art piece that you were proud of.
My class is one of two Special Day Programs for children with Autism at my school.
My classroom consists of 13 autistic children. I have 2 girls and 11 boys ranging from kindergarten through second grade. They are all exceptional in their own way! Their thirst for life and learning is unique as much as it is interesting. They never get enough. I love watching their faces light up when participating in the general education setting and in my classroom. They build confidence within themselves when they succeed, which just melts my heart. I love my students so much and want them to experience it all and have it all! It's the least I can do!
My Project
By receiving these art materials, I will be able to further my students knowledge within the arts. Children with autism enjoy expressing their emotions in different ways, one being art. Through painting, my students will be able to use the skills and techniques that I have already taught them to make a professional looking art piece.
This project is important to me because I try to expose my students to as much as possible.
Teaching them about famous artists and experiencing art through the different mediums allows them to explore their creativity.
