Autism Affirming Classroom!

Help me give my students the best possible experience & environment that I can. I want to change the lighting to be less harsh, bring some comforting items in, and get some classroom essentials!

My Project

I mostly have autistic students in my special-ed classroom this year, and I want to make this classroom as safe and comfortable as possible. I want to make the lighting cozier, bring in more comfy objects, and have some weighted options for kids who need that type of sensory input. The things in this list give them great opportunities to develop new skills and figure out what works best for them! My # 1 goal this year is to develop a classroom that is affirming of their identities, be inclusive and patient, and help them feel safe and comfortable in a school setting. The kids (and adults in the class) have many different sensory needs and these items would make all of our days a little bit better!
