Author's Paradise

My students need a rug to gather for writing workshop. We are in need of a space where the children can come sit to hear each others writing and computers/printers to become expert authors.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The beauty of my classroom is all of my students have a different story to tell. We all come from different walks of life and different backgrounds. While I have the pleasure of teaching in a small neighborhood school we also service students who come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Over 50% of our school is on free or reduced price lunch. I teach in a wonderful diverse classroom, with about 40% speaking English as a second language.

While everyday the rewards outweigh the challenges; it can be difficult at times to bridge the gap.

Nothing compares to seeing a child’s ah ha moment or getting to share their story.

My Project

The materials I am hoping to get will help my students develop as young authors. We need a place where students can work free from the constraints of desks and can share their work with their classmates. The rug will provide not only a work space, but also a place for students to share their unique stories with their peers.

The computers will provide workspace for students to take their writing to the next level, word process, use technology, and perfect the art of their work.

Your donation to my project will enhance the writer's workshop experience for my students. It will provide them with a nice alternative work and sharing space, as well as nice word processors to produce their final papers and stories on.
