Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are starting to fall in love with books. They enjoy been read to, retelling stories and making connections. We are planning on a full unit about who we are, how different we could look like outside and how similar we are inside. Discussion turns more lively after reading books on the subject (e.g. "Our Class is a Family", "Skin Like Me" or "Just Ask! Be Different")
Our next natural phase would be to turn students into authors and we will need our favorite utensils: white boards and journals.
We will get into the routine of daily writing because authors just do it. White boards will help to brainstorm and journals to track progress. It is going to be a wonderful adventure.
