My Students
Putting pen to paper means so much more with actual pens and paper!
We are a class of 25 five year olds.
We are all English Language Learners in a Michigan school. We are excited to learn because for most of us, it is our first time coming to school. Our school is a high poverty school and we want to do our best to learn!
My Project
I have requested a variety of writing instruments. Use of markers, scissors, colored pencils, and various colors of crayons will allow my students to be more creative in their stories.
Our district has implemented a new literacy framework this year. We are now using the Daily 5 Balanced literacy framework. One of the components of the Daily 5 is Work on Writing. The children have been so excited to write! With the requested materials to add to our writing center, the children will be exposed to a variety of writing materials. My hope is to create a love for writing and a new way of expressing oneself.
Your donation will not just impact my students for their time in my classroom alone.
This will instill a love for writing that will last for years to come...and hopefully allow them to grow as writers. For some of them, using the materials will be their only exposure to writing instruments in their day.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
