Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"To you I am bound for life and education..." (Shakespeare) ...unless I am bound only by a staple, in which case I am bound to fall apart in the middle of rehearsal, scattering paper everywhere. Please help our students keep their scripts, writing packets and art portfolios together.

My 2nd and 3rd grade students have been identified "highly gifted" and have special needs not met by standard textbooks and curriculum.

They need to be challenged academically and intellectually to thrive in school. I do my best to find imaginative and unique ways to engage children to rise to their full potential. They are so bright and creative! They love to share their unique and surprising insights on everything.

My Project

When fully active, these students produce high volumes of stories, art and research reports. We often makes "collections" of their work to share or use in other applications. For example, they perform their own poems at a Poetry Cafe for family and friends, where they also serve refreshments and run activity booths they devised. In addition to their own creations, they are currently rehearsing Shakespeare's "The Tempest" using enormous scripts that are falling apart because they are only held together by staples. The binding machine and supplies will also be used to publish Astronomy Magazines, journals, and public policy papers that they present to policymakers as part of their Project Citizen unit. They would love their packets bound to look "grownup," or at least stay intact.

We are basically running a grade school publishing house!

Staples just can't cut it. If we can produce bound packets of the children's work, not only would they can stay intact during class use, but they would have creative keepsakes of these special years.
