Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a fourth grade teacher in a low income school in the Bronx, New York. As part of our curriculum we are currently doing an author study on the famous author Roald Dahl. Dahl is a wonderful writer and writes to and about children. He gets into the heads of young readers and the students absorb every word. Unfortunately, we only have a few books by this author and it is hard to teach the students thoroughly when they do not have their own copy of the book. If we are able to receive a copy for each student it will greatly benefit my class and the future fourth graders. After each book we like to extend our work with a writing piece that reflects the writer of the author being studied. We would love to receive 30 copies of "The Vicar of Nibbleswicke" and "Danny the Champion of the World" Each set is $209.70. The students in my class participate in many programs that help others. At this time each student is bringing in 50 cents and we are going to purchase chickens through the Heifer International program that will benefit families in third world countries. The students know a great deal about helping others and I know that this gift from you will greatly be appreciated.
