Authentic Workplace Experience thru Virtual Enterprise

My students need a Conference Table to conduct department meetings and meet with mentors. We are implementing the Virtual Enterprise International (veinternational.org) program in the fall.

My Students

I am so lucky to work with motivated, high achieving, and passionate young adults. They not only want to learn, they want to do! My students are always so giving, and I want to be able to give back to them, and help prepare them as they move on to college and/or the workforce. They are eager to brake free from the typical classroom organized in rows - they want to move and collaborate, and engage each other and adults in a professional manner.

My Project

We are starting our very own Virtual Enterprise program this coming fall and one of the unique features of this course is that it turns the classroom into an authentic workplace. A key component to this is having a CONFERENCE TABLE where kids can conduct meetings and present to potential investors and mentors. Flexible seating, conference table, collaborate work spaces, cooler and coffee station..I want the students to feel like they are coming to work everyday. Having the ability to interact in a professional environment with each other in department meetings, and having a space to conduct meetings with mentors is essential to the experience. In VE, the teacher moves to a facilitator role and the students take full control and ownership of all aspects of the business THEY create.
