Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My high poverty school faces challenges every day, some of them are homeless and others lack resources such as transportation or other economic hardships parents may face.
Many of my students have migrated from different countries where there is a lack of resources.
To many students, our school is like a second home. Our school provides important essentials resources and technology, which many of them may not have in their house.
My Project
Our prekindergarten room is very spacious that we have two rugs for our children to sit.
We are constantly using the rugs for activities and for quiet time, The rug will get dusty everyday and we need a vacuum to help maintain our class neat.
My students are learning numbers so they need the math counting box sets so they can sort out the problems. The magnetic math rods are a fun way for the students to learn their counting and it would be useful to have it in the math center. I also plan on working in small group differentiated instruction to help struggling students with the touch and read phonics set so they can be ready for kindergarten. I can use the sight words activity chest for my class to enjoy. I would use the pre-magnetic writing board in my writing center for the students that are having a difficult time holding a pencil. This activity would make a great difference in my students handwriting. My students also need early science folder games so they can learn and have fun at the same time. I know these materials will make a difference in my class and my students will have authentically learn.
