This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These books will help to create an inclusive and welcoming classroom. I want to ensure that all of my students are able to see themselves reflected, not only in the texts we read in class, but also in the stories they can take home. We often see ELA flooded with outdated stories that are flooded with stereotypes or that completely ignore the way our identities shape us and the word.

I believe it is increasingly important that teachers and parents have access to inclusive literature to share with young people, because unfortunately access to those resources are not guaranteed.
