My students need 6 portable CD players because they are grouped together with multiple grades and achievement levels, therefore reading different texts simultaneously.

My Students
Ever know a word, but not recognize it on paper?!? My students are asked to listen to their readings, while following along, in order to add the audio component to the visual, and become more fluent readers.
My students are disadvantaged and lacking in credits and confidence.
My students are being served at an alternative campus, meaning they have been removed from the traditional campus but are able to receive attention and opportunity in the small groups of my classroom. It enables them to have success, growth and positive relationships with teachers and their peers.
My Project
Using portable CD players will excite the students about using a technology they're familiar with, as well as help them tune out the distractions of other projects/assignments being completed by others. They will jump at the opportunity to listen, thinking it is an escape, without having to be belittled for needing audio assistance.
My classroom has suffered due to the lack of community knowledge and therefore support.
At an alternative campus, there is no PTSO or Booster Club. I would greatly appreciate your support, and vow to take care of the resources bought, and the impact it will have on learning.
