My Students
At my Title I school of just under 1000 students, more than 30 languages are spoken in the hallways. Many students are recent migrants to the United States. Some have very limited schooling in their own language and are now, for the first time, pushed into a formal school setting.
Despite their diverse backgrounds, there are some things that are generally true about all my students: They are enthusiastic about STEM.
They are curious and observant, and like learning how and why things work the way they do. They are hardworking, as they often throw themselves wholeheartedly into their tasks.
My Project
With our current mask mandate, it is becoming increasingly difficult to hear students in classroom discussions. This has decreased my students' willingness to participate.
Help my students acquire the technology needed to support them in engaging in Mathematical Discourse, securing understanding through Socratic Seminars, and sharing their justification and rationales through Inquiry.
This 8 mic system will allow me to have a mic set up at each table group, providing students with access to amplifying their voices. These supplies will give my students a chance to be clearly heard. Then, my students will get to be audible debaters.
