My students need hands-on physical science materials, like magnet bricks, an electricity activity tub, and a magnet lab, to conduct experiments with magnets and electrical circuits.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Reading about science and actually handling science materials are completely different experiences. Students learn so much more from "doing" science than just reading about science from a textbook.
My students love hands-on science experiments.
They think it's just play time and they don't realize how much they are learning. Most of my students have had limited prior science knowledge and we must always cover basic skills before we tackle grade level material. Science materials really help with this process.
My Project
My students will be thrilled to discover that they can make electromagnets and electrical circuits on their own. I can't wait until they put these materials together and light that very first lightbulb. It is such a big thrill for us all! They will be learning without even knowing it.
I hope that these science experiments will build a solid base for my students to carry on to fifth grade and middle school.
I'm sure they will be memorable lessons and will be discussed for months to come.
