Attracted To Science

My students need 6 magnets kits, 36 magnetic wands, sets of the jumbo magnetic balls, magnetic bricks and stack and match magnet rings to give them hands on experiences.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lane's classroom raised $1,023

This project is fully funded

My Students

How can I explain the force of a magnet without my students having a magnet in there hands? They need the opportunity to experience these science lessons by participating not just watching. I simply don't have enough materials for this unit other than to have teacher demonstrations.

Our school is in one of the largest cities on the East Coast although Baltimore has a great children's science museum most of my students never have been.

Most of our students have not even been exposed to science. It is also not very accessible as a field trip, the cost of transportation and admission is too expensive for our parents to afford. As their teacher I feel it is my responsibility to bring science to them.

My Project

With the materials I am requesting I can bring our science unit on magnets into the classroom. Each student can follow along with the magnets in their hands, so they can feel what magnetic force is. During science they will be able to explore the full range of magnetics and begin to think scientifically. I requested books and learning centers so I can fully emerge my students into this unit by taking it cross curriculum.

It is no secret America is trailing other nations in science and it is no mystery why when you come into our classrooms and see the materials.

We don't ask chefs to make award winning dishes and not give them all the ingredients! I want my students to love and be passionate about science. I see so much potential with my students and I hate how they are limited by the lack of funding.
