This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They learn in a variety of ways to fit their different needs. They live in a high poverty area with parents who are struggling to provide essentials.
The Special Education students I work with have specific learning needs that can be met using a variety of current, specialized methods.
I have seen great progress in basic reading, writing and math which lifts their self-esteem and closes the leaning gap using technological supports.
My Project
My students love to use MobyMax--a web based program that has helped them close learning gaps in Reading, Writing and Math with fun and interactive lessons. We need new tablets as ours are several years old and not giving them full access to the program.
Even in the most engaging lessons, chair bands have made all the difference in keeping my students on task by letting them "move in place" and relieve the nervousness learning causes a lot of them.
Donor's Choose patrons gave my students with learning disabilities and ADHD their first tablets and chair bands to get the progress going--now we need new supplies to keep it going. My students are grateful everyday we use the tablets because they know they will personally get what they need. The straps provide a welcome relief to stress brought on by learing.
