My Students
Orchard school is a stem school that focuses on Science Technology, Engineering and Math. We have teachers that are dedicated but we have students that have attendance issues . We are really focusing on improving attendance this school year to improve learning.
Orchard students are encouraged to solve problems through problem based learning in using science technology engineering and math in the classroom.
Our school is located in the inner city of Cleveland as a part of Cleveland Metropolitan School District where most students receive free lunch. We are a k-8 building serving over 400 students including regular and special education students.
My Project
Orchard teachers are working hard to motivate our students to attend school everyday . We plan on using these tablets as an incentive to come to school on a regular basis. We have incentive programs in place but really feel we need to take it to the next level and getting these students to school where they belong. As a STEM school we thought that rewarding them with technology would be a great support to what we are doing in the classroom as a home connection. We as a staff will take each student who has perfect attendance for the month in our classrooms and put their name in the raffle to win the tablet for the month we hope to have two winners each month.
We are hoping with the importance of technology these days that students will want to win a tablet and come go school to learn.
The benefit is that these students will not miss out on chunks of instruction but instead they will be active earners at school.
