Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school district has struggled with the percentage of students being marked chronically absent from school since returning from the Covid 19 pandemic. We are trying to combat the attendance issues this year through a collaborate school wide approach.
These items would be used as incentives for students that are having attendance issues, to help reward them for utilizing different interventions to support their academic success.
While our school has a PBIS system in place, many of these students are not in school enough to participate in PBIS.
With these items we are hoping that we can continue to build on our tier 2 approach and establishing a rapport that would allow us to step in and help break down some of the barriers that are keeping our students out of the classroom. Our school consist of many homeless and low-income students, and when asked what interested them as a reward they responded with fun snacks and fidgets.
