My Project
A huge part of my students' education is learning job skills. This year our students were unable to go out into the community for internships. We had to get creative. We cook meals, build things out of wood, and have a greenhouse with vegetables. Now we have a paper shredding/recycling project! The students have made one-of-a-kind recycling boxes for teachers and found a store willing to donate an older grocery cart we can use for pick-up days. We have 2 shredders that we have been using for our trial run.
Our two shredders only work about 10 minutes before overheating!
We have been working on shredding our first round of paper for over a week now. The students and teachers even spent almost a full day shredding by hand trying to catch up. We were able to shred for about 30 minutes today before both shredders stopped working completely.
Everything is ready to start this project, but we know we will not be successful without industrial shredders. We did not anticipate the excitement and number of teachers we have signed up to participate. While it is terrific to see our school support us, we have found ourselves in over our heads.
