Help me give my students books to practice literacy skills at home.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lewis's classroom raised $233
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every year there are students that tell me they do not own books at home. I would love to provide my students with books to use at home to practice reading skills for homework and to use in instances we may have to quarantine.
A book is a gift you can open again and again.
During reading time at school, students practice reading by looking at the pictures and telling all that they see. We teach students to point to pictures on each page, say only what they see on the page, and turn one page at a time.
The book that I am requesting is part of our lessons in school. Therefore my students will be very familiar with this title and hopefully be excited to read it to a family member at home.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
