I teach a class of 32-second graders. My students are filled with intelligence, enthusiasm, curiosity, motivation, and potential.
While we come together with the common goal of learning, each student brings with them a unique history, learning style and developmental needs.
Many face challenges of poverty and lack of resources needed to support their classroom learning at home.
I can provide them with a fiercely positive, safe learning environment in which they can challenge themselves to grow academically and socially.
My Project
With the COVID-19 outbreak, school has been closed and students have been working at home to learn and grow their brains. While we did our best to provide them with a few books before the closure began, many do not have appropriate grade-level books to be reading at home.
With these books, my students will be able to continue to read and learn at home.
So many of my students have grown into strong, independent readers during the course of this school year. The opportunity to provide them all with engaging texts will help them continue to grow at home during this school closure!
